As a part of Comic-Con 2012, Entertainment Weekly has just released a fascinating piece of promotional advertising for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey depicting many of the film’s important scenes.
The 48 frames per second debacle aside, I have to say this scroll certainly stands to reassure the wary viewers out there that at Peter Jackson is sparing no expense in creating these films. Based on what we’ve seen, and bearing in mind that Photoshop can do wonders for a poor-looking film, The Hobbit movies still look to easily outclass the visuals of Jackson’s epic Lord of the Rings trilogy – no small feat considering that series still looks impressive over a decade later. It is worth noting that this collage of images gives us our first look at the shape-shifting Beorn speaking to Gandalf, as well as a decidedly different version of the wargs than we saw in Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
Just to remind you how awesome this movie is going to be, 48 fps or no, here’s the trailer again to feast your eyes and ears on.
Last but not least, if you haven’t had the chance to see Peter Jackson’s video blog series, I highly recommend them; if nothing else, these segments really show that Jackson’s heart and soul are in Middle Earth – he’s putting everything has into these two three films, and he’s having a good time doing it. The first video is embedded below.
There you have it! We’ll update this page if we get any more interesting news out of Comic-Con 2012.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey releases December 14, 2012.
