Please note that can find all episodes of “Stark Contrast,” our Game of Thrones podcast, both at Movie Fail and on iTunes, Google Play and Spotify.

Game of Thrones has a history of making spectacular penultimate episodes each season. But did the episode live up to the impressive quality of its predecessors? We’re not so sure.

Reprising his role as director, Neil Marshall (“Blackwater”) tackles the assault on Castle Black and the Wall as the Crows struggle to defend their homeland. J and I talk in-depth about the battle, as well as the weak characterization and some of the bigger flaws of Game of Thrones as a series.

As always, J offers their perspective as a book-reader and why he’s displeased with how “The Watchers on the Wall” played out. Meanwhile, I offer my take as someone who has no insider information what’s going to happen next. Please be aware that this episode will contain spoilers through Season 4, Episode 9. Happy listening! ~ Søren

I think we can all agree Slynt is a slime ball, but what did you think of this episode as a whole? Did you find it as disappointing as we did? Let us know in the comments below! And stay tuned to Movie Fail next week as we dive into the final episode of the season, “The Children.”
